Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biochemistry

I graduated with honors and summa cum laude with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley. I received an A in biochemistry and have tutored the course independently for the past 3 years. I also was an undergraduate researcher in a MCB lab for 2 years, culminating in an honors thesis regarding a biochemical process with immunological significance.

Biology

While an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, I completed introductory/general biology courses with an A mark. I also served as a teaching assistant for the courses as an upperclassman and have tutored for them independently for the past 3 years. I scored a perfect 15 (99th percentile) on the Biological Sciences section of the MCAT.

Chemistry

While an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, I completed introductory/general chemistry courses with an A+ mark. I also completed organic chemistry and biochemistry courses with A marks. I have tutored general chemistry independently for the past 5 years. In addition, I scored a 14 (99th percentile) on the physical sciences section of the MCAT.

Genetics

While an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, I completed introductory/general biology courses with an A mark. Both the lecture and lab portions for these introductory/general biology courses had a heavy emphasis on genetics. I also completed an upper division course on genetics and genomics with an A mark.

A thoughtful and inspiring tutor

Jason tutors my high school sophomore daughter in biology by integrating his chemistry, math, and science knowledge. The method is inspiring to her as she sees how to connect the dots in science. Jason is really helping her to see the big picture as well as paying attention to details, and in the process acquiring in-depth learning skills. Jason is punctual, courteous and very pleasant, and he has
