About Harris

Hello! My name is Harris O. and I just graduated from Case Western Reserve University in December 2013. At Case, I received a Master of Science degree in Medical Physiology. I received my B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in May 2012 where I completed a combined major in Chemistry, Anthropology, and Public Health. Before Wash U I attended Southeast HS for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

I graduated from Southeast with a 4.20 GPA and was accepted into one of the top 15 US universities (Wash U). I scored above 680 on 2 different SAT II Subject Tests (750 Molecular Biology, 690 Math Level II) and have previous experience tutoring students in both subjects. Although my focus is in high school subjects and standardized college entry exams (SAT and ACT), I am prepared to tutor college level courses as well (physiology, chemistry, biology).

As a tutor and mentor, my goal is to help students achieve and even exceed their academic expectations. I am a very patient and versatile tutor, therefore I can adapt my teaching methods to personally fit each student's pace and learning style. Please contact me if you want to know more about me or my services! Thank you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Study Skills

I really enjoy helping students do well in school. I have helped many friends and family prepare for national standardized exams (SAT, MCAT, NBME). These exams cover a vast amount of material and to do well a student must optimize their study time. To do this, I show students how to "study smart" rather than study a lot.

I was previously a mentor for a program called Each One Teach One: College Bound. In this program I helped several high school students improve their study skills in various subjects (Algebra, Geometry, Chemistry, French, etc.).
