About Logan

I am a twenty-six year old language enthusiast with over nine years of Spanish language experience. I have had the opportunity to visit 9 countries including Spain, Peru, Colombia, and Mexico. I also lived in the Dominican Republic for 2 months teaching English.

My tutoring repertoire includes 4 years of college tutoring and 3 years as a Wyzant tutor. In addition to Spanish, I tutor both Algebra and French. When I tutor, I like to make the learning process as pain-free and enjoyable as possible. To facilitate this, I often use worksheets to get the point across. In my language classes I also tend to teach material in English first, then try to ease into speaking in the foreign language.

I hope you see me as a good fit!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I took Algebra 1 my sophomore year of high school and continued to use algebra principles in subsequent math classes up to calculus 1. In addition to language tutoring, I tutored college algebra while obtaining my bachelor's degree at Saint Louis University. I consider learning algebra to be very similar to learning a new language and my teaching method as a Spanish tutor is what I use to help teach math. This method includes using multiple example questions to increase exposure to new ideas as well as clear and to the point explanations.

ESL/ESOL

I've taken numerous classes dealing with ESL and SLA work. I also spent two months in the Dominican Republic teaching English. I've taught individuals of all ages, ranging from young children to adults. I like to use my Spanish skills to help facilitate learning for native Spanish speakers.

Prealgebra

I took Prealgebra In eighth grade and continued to use algebra principles in subsequent math classes up to calculus 1. I tutored both Spanish and College Algebra while obtaining my bachelor's degree at Saint Louis University. I consider learning Math to be very similar to learning a new language and my teaching method as a Spanish tutor is what I use to help teach all of my Math classes. This method includes using multiple example problem sets to increase exposure to new ideas as well as clear and to the point explanations.

Spanish

I have studied Spanish for the past nine years and have taught the language for the past five. I earned degrees in both Spanish and International Studies and have had the opportunity to travel to Peru and Colombia for work, to live in the Dominican Republic as a volunteer teacher, and to visit both Spain and central Mexico for leisure. I have experienced many of the wonders of the Spanish speaking world and would love to help you to experience them too!

Excellent Spanish tutor

In only two lessons, Logan has already increased my confidence with Spanish conversation and grammar. The lessons are not only helping me improve my command of Spanish but are also enjoyable. I would highly recommend Logan as a Spanish tutor.
