About Amanda

I graduated with my Master's Degree in TESOL from Webster University in 2014. Since that time I have worked at Maryville, Lindenwood and Fontbonne university. I have experience teaching: Academic writing, grammar and reading. My class sizes range from 5-15 students, and the beginning through advanced levels.

I absolutely love what I do. I most enjoy learning about the native countries and cultures of my students, and watching how their proficiency grows from the beginning through the end of a semester. I incorporate different methodologies in my teaching. Technology is important, and I tie real-life scenarios into my lessons, so the students can become more confident when communicating with native English speakers, no matter the topic.
Feedback I have gotten from my students is how approachable I am, and willing to make time for individual help so they can be successful in their classes. I have lived abroad, so I know how overwhelming the process of learning a new language is.

I will be sure you feel completely comfortable when we work together, and will enjoy the process of increasing your English knowledge.
I look forward to learning more about potential students, and discussing how to tailor lessons to make the individual learning process the most effective it can be.

Reach out if you have questions, or need additional information from me.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I have a Master's degree in TESOL, and have been teaching Academic Writing and Research, Grammar and Reading classes for two years at local universities

Grammar

Ever since I began teaching at the university level, grammar as been included in each of my classes.
I continue to study the subject on my own, so I can be knowledgeble enough to explain the rules, and how they often change in a way the student can understand.

I focus on the proper use of grammar in both writing and speaking lessons. I believe proper use is vital to succeeding in all areas of learning English.
