My tennis experience includes playing for Ohio University- Lancaster for 3 years, winning 3 state titles in doubles, along with playing 3 years on the European red clay circuit as a member of local German tennis Team in Grafenwoehr, Germany.
I have played on U.S.T.A. team tennis teams while living in St. Louis. My tennis teaching experience spans more than 30 years. I taught for Parks & recreation in Ohio and Missouri, Army Recreation at Fort Lewis, Washington and Grafenwoehr Germany as well as for the Armed Forces Recreation Center at Garmisch. I have played tennis since 1967, and I was certified through the United States Professional Tennis Registry after attending the Dennis Van Der Meer Tennis University in 1977. I have attended various recertification classes to keep current with modern changes in the sport. I have also worked as an instructor at 2 clubs in St. Louis--at Town & Country and West James in Bellefontaine. I have also taught tennis as part of the P.E. program at Forest Park Community College for 2 years. I am also currently an official for U.S.T.A. and officiate both pro and junior tournaments.
My fitness experience includes being certified by the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a Personal Trainer (2000) and the Y.M.C.A. Personal Trainer Certification in 2002. I have managed a club fitness program for Missouri Athletic Club and taught personal training at the Kirkwood/Webster Y.M.C.A. for 3 years. I am also currently teaching Fitness classes at both Meremac and Forest Park Community Colleges. I am also Certified as a Red Cross First Aid/C.P.R/A.E.D instructor and teach at Meremac Community College and Forest Park Community College. I also teach C.P.R. for Logan College of Chiropractic as an independent contractor for their Doctorate program. I have also completed the training to be an Athletic Trainer and have worked in Physical Therapy for 3 years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 35 years plus experience as a player and teacher to include U.S. Professional Tennis registry Instructor certification in 1977 and Dennis Van Der Meer Tennis University in 1977. My playing experience is at the college level for 3 years and at the international level for the Germans for 2 years as well as various individual tournaments both here and in Germany. I have a Physical Education and Health B.S.E.D. and Masters in Education. I am also a certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and a certified Snow Ski Instructor through the Armed Forces Recreation Center in Garmisch, Germany.
