About Caitlin

I am a college student looking for some work during the school year. School has always been one of my strong points. I received a score of 33 on the ACT, and I was ranked 3rd out of 179 students in my high school graduating class. I have assisted college students, mainly in chemistry, but also in other classes. I also tutored multiple high school students for the math section of the ACT. I am willing to tutor any grade level in any subject with my strongest subject being math. I have always enjoyed school and excelled at it. I hope to assist students in achieving excellence in school while enjoying it at the same time.

My methods of tutoring usually involve having the students work through problems with me. I explain each step as we go through a new type of problem, and then I let them try it out for themselves on a new problem. I make sure that they understand each step as I explain it. I watch them do the problem, and if they get stuck, I give them pointers in what to look for to help them know what to do next. I like to teach students in the way they learn best. I will change my methods based on the student, and I will communicate with the student and parents to find how each of the students I tutor learn best. This usually enables the student to optimize their performance in a subject. I will use multiple methods to make sure that students are able to use their skills in different circumstances.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I also played for Beaverdam Christian School from 5th through 8th grade. I played my Freshman and Sophomore years of high school at Unity Christian High School in Hudsonville, Michigan. I didn't play the other two years due to injury. I have also played intramurals for Calvin College. I was also the assistant coach for Beaverdam Christian School my senior year of high school.
