About Aparna

I am a highly motivated Math tutor with over 7 years of tutoring experience, coaching students at all grade levels, including college going Freshmen and Sophomores. I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, and a graduate degree in Computer Science. I have also passed the PRAXIS II MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH 5169 exam offered by ETS for Teacher Certification.
I offer Math coaching for students in grades K-to-12 (Elementary, Middle and High School), and English tutoring from Kindergarten up to Grade 8. Homework help and preparation for school curriculum, quizzes and tests is provided. I'm very familiar with the mathematics curriculum for the Edison and Iselin school districts, including the online books for elementary, middle and high schools. Most of my K-12 students are from the Edison school district.
I also assist students and adults working towards standardized test and Math Proficiency tests, including SAT, Accuplacer, etc.
I believe tutoring strengthens the math fundamentals of a student, and creates the foundation for consistent success in the future. Reasonable rates with discounts for multiple weekly sessions allow for an affordable way to work consistently over a period of time to make Power of Infinity
My Tutoring Approach:
Don't Hold Back
Each child has infinite potential. All they need is timely guidance and consistent effort to achieve their potential. I do my part to help them succeed. Timely help is very important for a student to succeed. Everyone needs guidance and training – even top stars in their fields. So don’t hold back your potential by not asking for help, and risk falling behind.a long-term and sustainable impact. Learning Instead of Memorizing
I focus on making sure that my students understand the subject matter, the concepts involved, and their properties and relationships. I don’t believe in rote memorization for it prevents the student from relating the topics across the subject, and discovering the relationships. Sound understanding is a strong foundation for math.
Boost Confidence & Reduce Math Anxiety
A clear understanding of the subject matter increases confidence. I focus on building the student’s ability to approach a subject with curiosity rather than anxiety, which over the long-term is a key to learning. Confidence improves speed, and is a valuable asset in negotiating the competitive college standardized tests.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
