I am a graduate student in Education, as well as an interpreter, translator, and private language instructor for both English and Spanish, working with adults and children. (I thoroughly enjoy working with kids!) I am bilingual and have spent a considerable amount of time living, working, and studying abroad in various countries across Central and South America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. I love to learn and want to share my enthusiasm for knowledge with others! I remember fondly the educators that made the most positive impressions on me; these were the people that made learning fun and interesting. They taught their students that as long as you are making a real effort, your best is good enough and you should be proud of yourself and what you accomplish - I hope to teach this to my students, as well.
Not everyone learns in the same way, so integrating visual, auditory, and tactile activities is usually the best way to ensure that a person gets the most out of their educational experience. I believe in adjusting my teaching strategies to fit the learning style and intellectual strengths of the student(s) with whom I am working.
I have a passion for language and enjoy engaging others in their quest to learn new languages and perfect their communication skills through reading, writing, and conversation. I studied language and culture at Webster University (Spanish, Italian, and French) and graduated with a BA in Spanish. I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Communication Arts with Emphasis in International Languages and Cultures.
I have used my linguistic skills in a variety of settings such as healthcare, business, and education working as a translator, interpreter, and language instructor. I have served as a teacher assistant working with preschoolers in a Spanish immersion school, which was a wonderful experience! I have also worked as a long-term substitute Spanish teacher in the public school system, which was an enriching opportunity on many levels. I am currently working as an interpreter and translator for a local non-profit organization that works with the St. Louis immigrant and refugee population. I am very grateful for my education and many experiences, as well as the opportunity to share what I have learned with others. I am a graduate student in Education, as well as an interpreter, translator, and private language instructor for both English and Spanish, working with adults and children.

Highly recommended! Lyndsey is very enthusiastic and enjoys tutoring. She is tutoring Spanish to myself and another employee to help us with our international, primarily to South America. It is imperative that we learn the correct Spanish, understand the concepts, and build on a solid foundation of language basics. We have only had classes so far, but we have learned a considerable amount and feel Lyndsey is an excellent tutor. We look forward to future lessons and improving our understanding of Spanish.
Sometimes ran a little late, but the bottom line is she raised my son's grade from a F to a C. He is a senior and had very little time to raise his grade.
He is finished with Spanish and will graduate in less than 2 weeks. She also convinced my daughter to stay with Spanish for the 3rd year, and have 4 years when she graduates high school. I will try get her again, if my daughter needs her in the future.
Using Spanish for travel, so it was wonderful to work with her and make it be fun just like the travel experience. Perfect tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
