I've taken college courses at San Diego Mesa, City, and Miramar Community Colleges, Palomar Community College, Cuesta Community College, University of Missouri-St. Louis, University of California San Diego, and California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo. I have an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology and an Associate of Science degree in Biology from Mesa College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Critical Gender Studies with a minor in Mathematics from UCSD. I studied theatre and philosophy at UMSL; math, psych, and transfer work at Mesa; gender, math, and globalization at UCSD; English (in the Master of Arts program) at Cal Poly; and organic chemistry at Palomar College.

I first worked as a tutor in the writing center at Cal Poly. I also worked as a California Student Opportunities and Advancement tutor at Arroyo Grande High School. I worked with students with special needs and students in the Advancement Via Individual Determination program. I have worked for Grade Potential and Tutor Doctors as well. I would be happy to help with career decisions, curricula planning, FAFSA filing, study skills developing, application completion, scholarships, and more.

I hope we can start working together soon!

Flute

I started working with band classes in the fifth grade, learning to play a recorder. I then played the flute and piccolo through my tenth grade year, in high school. I am experienced with correct mouth placement, or embouchure, breath, and finger/hand/arm placement. I have a great deal of experience reading music, piano to forte, crescendo and decrescendo, staccato, slurring, grace notes, and more. I have worked with fellow students on instrument tuning and cleaning. I can work with you on transitioning to an open-hole or b-foot flute. I spent a great deal of time improving my technique working on scales, which also helps when reading music in different keys or transitioning between keys in the same piece of music. I would look forward to helping you find pieces of music that are a further challenge to you that you can look forward to being able to play.

After working for a short time in the career counseling office at Arroyo Grande High School, I learned how important college counseling can be. I've attended University of Missouri St. Louis, San Diego Mesa College, University of California San Diego, California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo, and Cuesta College. Let me share my wealth of experience and knowledge with you to fill out your FAFSA, work with the financial aid office, choose a college, choose a major, apply to college, decide on curriculum or an education plan, decide whether to live on or off campus, close to or far from home. These decisions are some of the most important you'll make in your life and I would be happy to be a part of that process for you.

Growing up with chickens and gardens, I spent a great deal of time cooking, canning, and baking at home. I've previously worked as a Wilton Method cake decorating instructor. I would be happy to work with you on cooking at home, working with a budget, making nutritional decisions, cooking for large crowds, food safety, inventory management, adding to your culinary repertoire, your first foray into canning (water bath as well as pressure), working with fondant, what to do with mystery ingredients, how to make sense of all the "natural," "organic," "free range," "antibiotic/hormone free," or "grass fed" products. Very nice

Even when I was completely unprepared, this tutor was able to help me understand my subject from a page off my assignment. Looking forward to getting her help again!

Alejandro, 1 lesson with Wendy

Awesome tutor.

Wendy is a great tutor. I will be continuing my tutoring lessons with her. She was very patient and assisted me in teaching me the proper way of working on algebra problems. The three hours that we were together there was a lot of information covered and I learned a lot from her.
