I am an undergraduate student at Boston University, studying Elementary and Bilingual Education. I love working with children and students of all ages. I am proficient in French, as I have been studying it extensively for thirteen years. My favorite school subject is English because I absolutely love reading and writing. I thoroughly enjoy editing, as well. As a tutor, I intend to help my students improve their linguistic skills - whether reading, writing, grammar, or style - so that they can fully realize their potential as students. I am extremely organized and also very good at managing my time. I have a substantial amount of experience working with students. I worked as a volunteer and as a paid teaching assistant with the program Aim High (St. Louis) for two years; one year, I worked in eighth grade English, the next year, I worked in sixth grade English. In addition to my experience at Aim High, I spent a month as a volunteer in the third grade classroom at City Academy (St. Louis). I acted as a teacher's aide, helping students with whatever they needed and answering any questions they may have had. I am currently a second-semester freshman at Boston University in the School of Education. I am taking an Introduction to Education class and through this class, I spend one day every week as a teacher's aide and observer in a second grade classroom at a local elementary school. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been taking French for thirteen years. I went to French immersion camp for five years, and I have participated in two summer abroad programs in France. As a freshman in college, I placed into sixth semester French.
