Teaching philosophy:
My goal is for you and I to have fun while learning. We will make sure that you learn the subject well enough to teach it to someone else. That means before we get tutoring I get to learn about how you learn so that we can come up with a plan that keeps you excited and progressing. That way, we can build upon your strengths, strengthen your weaknesses and help you stay focused. As we work together, we will work on study skills and tips that will not only help you pass that test coming up, but we will work together to help you develop the confidence to conquer every subject.

Additionally, part of my teaching philosophy is to provide as many real world applications for each subject we study so that when someone asks, “when will I ever use this in real life?” you will have the answer.

Experience:
I have been tutoring since high school (where I was teaching college students algebra and calculus but don’t worry, I teach all ages). By college, my nickname was “The Professor” since study sessions involved me explaining concepts on the chalk board.

As a PhD student at Purdue University, I helped teach senior design, which covers a range of subjects from biology to physics to engineering to geometry to trig and, of course, design. For my senior design work I received the Magoon Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Presentations can be nerve-wracking; however, I have been giving professional presentations for years now, including several at national science conferences. I have pointers to help you focus on your presentation while impressing the crowd with what you have to say.
