I'm Jacob, I am currently an undergraduate biochemistry major at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. I am an honors student and collegiate athlete who is definitely a people person. I have had the opportunity to conduct research at my university as well as at the University of Nebraska, so I have been able to add a variety of experiences to my scientific knowledge and expertise in areas such as molecular biology, genetics, biological engineering, and biochemistry. I have worked one year as a student teaching assistant in labs such as cell biology as genetics. I love helping students get through their stumbling blocks and it is an awarding experience when I see the light bulb turn on when they finally understand a topic that they were previously confused about.

I have conducted genetic and biological engineering research at MWSU and led a team of undergraduate students to the successful completion of a chain molecule that helped explore new ways of creating asthma medicine, this research was recently published in a scientific journal. At UNL I performed research in the areas of molecular biology and biological engineering to understand the gene complexes that control the lipid production in microalgae in an effort to create a gasoline free biofuel. During this time, I also helped write a review paper on the availability and accessibility of biofuels. I am well versed in all of the topics listed and have a natural love for talking about scientific topics.
