University of Central Missouri (Music Education)
I am in my second semester of pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Music Education and Business Management at the University of Central Missouri. When not living on campus, I spend the rest of my time in Ozark, Missouri with my family. While I am available at both locations at different times throughout the year, I am always available for online tutoring. I have had almost four years of tutoring in subjects such as elementary math, elementary reading, music theory, vocal performance and piano. As well as tutoring during my free time, I have successfully completed two years of the A+ tutor program for tutoring middle school choral performance students. I have a true passion for music and teaching, so every chance I get to share this passion with students is a privilege!
I have always been successful in mathematics because I have had great educators throughout my life. I understand that elementary math can be repetitive and monotonous, but it’s the tutor's job to make this easier and more entertaining! In the past, I have created fun, brain teasing games for children to help them even get ahead of the curriculum taught in class.
Being able to pronounce and recognize words while reading is only part of learning to be a successful reader. I have experience in teaching phonics to an elementary student who was actually bilingual and was having trouble with learning and speaking English. Through constant reading and practice, she was able to start a great journey to speaking the English language which can be a struggle to learn.
I have been around music all my life, I have a true passion for it, singing in specific. I have had years of piano and voice lessons as well as having a few years to teach myself. I have had experience with teaching basic piano skills and music theory. In addition to my experience with music theory and piano, I have tutored many middle through high school students in vocal performance to help with upcoming performances. As I plan on going into the field of music education, I continue to improve upon my music and educating skills.
I would love to assist any student or parent with tutoring needs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to set up a tutoring lesson! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been playing piano for close to nine years now and have benefited from it greatly. I have been taught and mastered the basics of piano performance and theory. These things include: scales, basic fingering, sight reading, note identification, and chord progressions. I have had a lot of experience in teaching these basics to young students to build a solid foundation for further learning.
