I am excited to present myself to you as a candidate for becoming your Wyzant tutor. For more than 16 years, my wife and I have home-schooled our four children. We have only one remaining at home (a senior), as 3 have graduated from college, one of which has her masters, and another has completed his first year of law school. I enjoy helping students learn and succeed, and am thankful for the opportunity to do so, through Wyzant. God has given me a heart for serving others. I have been told my gifts include teaching and organizing. I am a good listener, and have become an effective problem-solver, sorting out the facts of a situation by asking the right questions. I try to see positive opportunities in every situation.
If you are looking for a tutor who will focus on helping your child enjoy learning, I just might be your answer. Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
I have always excelled in English and Grammar. I have a BA degree in Speech/Communications, and have a number of years of experience teaching an adult Sunday School class. In addition, I enjoy learning, which spurs me to help others expand their vocabulary.
I enjoy puzzles, and have found that elementary math can often be made fun, just like a puzzle. I have a knack for simplifying things for kids, and always try to make math fun and understandable. Seeing a student enjoy solving math problems is a real joy for me.
I love America. Helping younger generations to feel the same way, while learning about how and why this country was founded, is vital to our future.
If you think I might be able to help your student, please contact me so we can decide together if we would make a good team. Of course there will be no obligation whatsoever; the next step would be a simple email or phone call to talk about your goals and challenges. I'm ready to help however I can! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a student of the Bible for more than 20 years, and continue to learn as I use God's Word to guide me every day. Although I have no formal seminary training, I have read and studied the Bible, along with commentaries from some of the great Bible teachers like Howard Hendricks, Chuck Swindoll, David Jeremiah, John MacArthur, Alistair Begg, and many others. I have taught an adult Sunday School class for a number of years, and my wife and I are currently leaders of the Junior and Senior High School Awana programs at our church (Trek and Journey).
