About Karen

I have over 25 years of professional experience in the scientific field of environmental protection; including preventing, investigating, and cleaning up environmental contamination. I am currently self-employed, both tutoring students and teaching safety skills to employees that work with hazardous chemicals. I have taught at a community college and have tutored students from grade school up through college. With my vast experience, I offer tutoring not only with the skills of an experienced teacher, but also the skills of a scientist with real world experience.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Chemical Technology with a minor in Biology, having graduated cum laude from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. Because of my love of teaching and strong belief in the value of education, I am currently working toward a Master’s Degree in Education to teach science in public schools.

I excelled in three Algebra classes in college and have used Algebra extensively in my college Chemistry courses and throughout my scientific career.

I received a student-of-the-year award in Physical Science in high school, successfully completed a Physics course in college, and have used the principles of Physical Science throughout my scientific career.

My reading and writing skills have been exemplary throughout high school, college, and my career. Reading and writing are fundamental in any type of education and career; and have allowed me to succeed. I will put my utmost effort in tutoring in this field.

I have years of successful experience tutoring elementary math. Because a strong start in math is fundamental, I will place great value in the learning of math skills.

Please contact me to learn more. I will use my excellent knowledge and teaching skills to help you succeed.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
