About Chelsie

I have valuable in-classroom, certified teaching experience, and I have been tutoring students of all ages and grade levels in a variety of subjects for 5 years, though I specialize in mathematics. Tutoring meets students' needs through specifically tailored instruction, and this individualize approach provides the setting in which I take much joy in watching students flourish.

My tutoring focus is primarily pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II, geometry, and trigonometry, but I teach all elementary levels - with Common Core proficiency - and Homeschool mathematics as well. I am also proficient in a variety of additional subjects - reading, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, writing, phonics, science, English, and others - with a personal love of all things pertaining to reading and writing.

Tutoring sessions will be designed to help students build proficiency and acquire the critical skills necessary for confidence and independent success in all subjects.

My goal is to teach the tools students need to develop solid study habits, problem-solving skills, and an appreciation of the learning process - particularly concerning mathematics - in all aspects of their lives.

I am available Sunday through Thursday from 8am to 10pm and am willing to travel directly to students, meet at an agreed upon location within 20 miles, or set up an online session. My base rate is $45 per hour and $35 per hour for online lessons. Adjusted rates are available for extended travel and unique-need situations.

I look forward to meeting you and getting started!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I am qualified to tutor all levels of high school mathematics as a credentialed High School Math Teacher, but Algebra 1 is a particular favorite. I am able to break down each concept to provide step-by-step instruction to help build confidence and concept fluency. My experience in the classroom is easily transferable to a one-on-one setting.

Algebra 2

I am qualified to tutor all levels of high school mathematics as a credentialed High School Math Teacher. I greatly enjoy all levels of Algebra, including Algebra 2, and am able to break down complicated concepts as I help student begin preparing for more advanced mathematical concepts. My experience tutoring has helped me tailor my one-on-one instruction practices.

Bible Studies

I attended private Christian schools from 3rd grade through high school, and have graduated from a university with a Christian worldview. I have also attended church the entirety of my life, which has allowed me to become quite familiar with different Biblical studies both historically and through individual Bible studies.

Common Core

I have extensive experience with Common Core curriculum from 4 years as a Teacher's Assistant in a K-8 school setting. I also have my AA in Elementary Education and my BS in Secondary Education, which required me to become familiar with the Common Core curriculum. I have one year of independent classroom teaching experience using the Common Core Curriculum, and I have tutored various students for 2 years.

Elementary Math

As a credentialed Math Teacher for grades 7-12, I am qualified to teach all levels of math. I also have years of assistant teaching at the elementary level, which has proven to be very valuable in equipping me with the necessary skills to tutor all levels. My knowledge and experience at each level make me a prime tutor. I am able to break concepts down at each level to help students build on current knowledge, gain new knowledge, and succeed.

Geometry

I am qualified to tutor all levels of high school mathematics as a credentialed High School Math Teacher, but Geometry is another personal favorite. I love sharing this interest by explaining the visual and hands-on features of this mathematical focus. My experience in the classroom has equipped me with the necessary skills to be an effective tutor in this subject.

Homeschool

I am a certified teacher with an AA in Elementary Education and a BS in Secondary Education (Mathematics), but I am also a parent who homeschools her own children. I am very familiar with many of the different homeschooling techniques, and I am sensitive to homeschooling families' needs. My educational and personal backgrounds give me the experience and knowledge necessary to assist homeschool students in a variety of settings. I also teach online for an online academy that largely serves homeschooling students.

Prealgebra

I am qualified to tutor all levels of high school and middle school mathematics as a credentialed Math Teacher for grades 7-12. I am particularly fond of all the algebras, and greatly enjoy introducing these concepts in the PreAlgebra setting. I understand that a strong foundation at this level will ensure greater success as students advance into the high school levels of mathematics. My experience in the classroom has given me the necessary skills to be a valuable tutor in this subject area.

Trigonometry

I believe I am qualified to tutor all levels of high school mathematics as a credentialed High School Math Teacher. Trigonometry is often a difficult transition for many students, but I am able to bridge the gap between current knowledge and new concepts to help students achieve success in this subject. My experience in the classroom has given me valuable skills that are essential in the tutoring setting.

No words to describe our newly found tutor and now friend. My daughter on the other hand says "she's amazing mom! I can't wait for my next session!" What? Wait, did my daughter just say she loved math? Is there something wrong with you? This subject used to be a big problem with her not wanting to do her math because she always struggled with it, to now praising it! WOW! We love Chelsie! She is
