In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My college major was business and I have worked in a professional career for over twenty years.
I have a B.S. in Management which included several human resource classes and marketing classes directed towards career development. Over the years as a dental office manager I attended several career development and management seminars. Even attended one put on by Ken Blanchard.
With 22 years of dental management and dental assisting experience, I would like to tutor anyone going into that profession.
For several years I was on the Board Of Directors and was one of the founding members for the Fitness Center in Stanberry, MO and I published several newsletters for them using MS Publishing. I also assisted a previous boss with his newsletters so I have probably 20 years experience in desktop publishing.
I have used Microsoft Outlook for several years. I taught as an adjunct instructor for business at Vatterott in St. Joseph for one semester. I am familiar with sending and receiving e-mails, doing attachments, loading photo's etc in Outlook.
I have a BS in Business Management and we had to take Public Speaking as one of our classes. I also sold Lia Sophia jewelry for a while and had to do presentations about twice a month doing sales. I'm also Mentor Coordinator where I work and have to do public speaking, awards presentation, etc. with that role. I have also taught 4-H classes and was adjunct instructor at Vatterott in St Joseph, MO for one "wheel", a ten week session.
I have 24 years experience with using QuickBooks. I used QuickBooks when I managed a dental office for 20 years and 4 years as a bookkeeper for a tire shop. It's one of the most user friendly software programs I've ever used. I recently helped a friend set their new business up with Quickbooks and I've had other QuickBooks users call me for assistance.
I have been sewing for over twenty years. I also have an embroidery machine that I use for decorative sewing. I taught 4-H sewing for over five years and almost all of my students had projects that went to state competition.
After taking 120+ hours at Northwest Missouri State University and 9 graduate hours I can say I have learned study skills. I also had to teach my daughter who struggled with reading how to study for test by using note cards and repetition and various study stills.
I have previous experience with helping a NWMSU instructor with a transcript she got printed in a professional journal. It had to be APA citation and had Excel graphs in the text that I helped her with.
