About Ashley

I am a certified elementary education and special education teacher in Kansas and Missouri. I love teaching and working with students one-on-one. I have worked in a variety of educational settings and look forward to this new opportunity. My love of teaching comes from years of teaching and bonding with students. Their success is my success. I am dedicated to helping students achieve their maximal potential and look forward to seeing and hearing about all the successes they will achieve.

After having taught 8 years of language arts, I feel that I have strong understanding in reading and vocabulary that enables students to be successful. I feel I get to learn alongside my students and I continue to apply those lessons in the classroom or in the tutoring setting.

My love for elementary students started during my student teaching classes and continues to this day. I have taught overseas in Kenya, taking my love of teaching to the students over there. This experience has given me a unique perspective on the education system in the United States and as enabled me to bring the lessons taught over there to my students here. I have found that the inquisitiveness and willing to learn attributes of elementary students are inspirational to me and how I teach.

I have been involved with Special Education for 7 years and have received a Master's Degree to help continue my love of teaching special education. Watching all the different ways students learn is electrifying and watching the connections they make to the world around them is admirable. I like to bring a sense of community to the classroom and bringing my students out into the community. Special Education takes patience and understanding, both qualities I have built into my teaching style in order to help students be successful.

I look forward to providing one-on-one instruction helping children become the best students they can be. I am passionate about teaching and love helping children find their passion through education.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and have taught this subject for 8 years. I am certified both in Kansas and Missouri to teach K-6th.

Phonics

My undergraduate degree in elementary education included a background in phonics. I have the knowledge of teaching beginning phonics and continuing to help students improve by providing positive reinforcement and encouragement.

Special Needs

I have a Master's degree in special education and certified to teach in both Kansas and Missouri. I have taught special education for 7 years and pride myself on my ability to connect with special education students.
