I love language. Learning a language gives you the opportunity to make millions of new friends, experience endless adventures, and learn things not only about other cultures, but about yourself. I have met many people from all over the world thanks to my interest in foreign language, and it has afforded me the opportunity to gain more from my travels as well as make countless more acquaintances than I would have had the ability to make otherwise. Language learners are my people. Your interest is my interest and with our common grounds I can already tell you we have a lot to talk about. I love sharing my knowledge with others with the hope that others will do the same with me.
My mother is Puerto Rican so I grew up around Spanish. I also lived in Spain for a year, and let me tell you, English is not as common in Spain as it is in other Western European nations. Because I speak a mixture of English and Spanish here at home, my Spanish has been altered slightly after having been forced to speak Spanish exclusively during my time in Spain. Well, I guess I should say “Castellano” since the language is so definitively different than the Spanish found here in the States. Nonetheless, I studied Spanish for what seems like forever now, and I have over 30 college credit hours in the subject.
All throughout my time studying the finer points of the language, I made money on the side tutoring for my university. I am very familiar with the process of learning Spanish and have developed a process of teaching the language that is designed to get your wheels moving, so to speak. After graduating with a BA at Mizzou, where I studied Linguistics and focused on Spanish, I later decided to return to school to improve my French. I ended up with a separate degree in French Literature and Phonetics from UMKC. French is my passion; I love the language. But I have found it much harder to find speakers to converse with. If you’d like help with French, by all means message me. I love to share this passion of mine with you. If you are looking for a language tutor in general, message me!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a bachelor's degree in French and have studied language throughout my academic career. I currently work as a French/English interpreter and have previously worked as a French tutor for my university. I also hold a separate degree in linguistics. My study and interest in multiple languages truly allows me to understand the process of learning a language.
