As a French major, I have always loved French culture. I lived in France for three years and it was there that I really learned to speak the language. Upon return to the United States, I began teaching K-6 grade French. I have, since then, taught pre-K through junior college over my career. I've taught in an immersion setting, a traditional high school setting and an alternative high school. Each place has allowed me to teach French language, grammar and culture.
I have tutored many students over the years. I know the pitfalls and the places where American students get hung up. I can explain the grammar and give you examples of how to learn the correct way of speaking and writing. All it takes sometimes is someone to sit down with one-on-one and explain the rules! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
