My name is Hector, I'm an Engineer and love teaching languages and Math specially Algebra.I really like helping students and professionals to get better and reach their goals. Spanish is my native language and I have been teaching English for a while, from kids to adults with very good results. As for math I helped my friends at school and ended up teaching other students as well, I try to make it easy and fun. I use a step by step method to explain any topic, and it has provided very good results, because on the books or at school sometimes they don't include the whole process. I adapt myself to the student and not viceversa.
I enjoy very much seeing the progress of my students and see their confidence increase, to me that is very rewarding. I was very frustrated with my College algebra course. In my class, the professor would start the equation and before I could blink, the answer was on the board (magically). All of the important step by step information in the middle was not explained. Hector has been very patient with me and he provides the step by step instruction that I need. He is easy to contact and responds quickly. Also, he meets with me on the weekends and late at night after I get out of work. (This is hard to find in a tutor) He definitely gets 5 out of 5 stars in my book!
With Hector's help Mackenzi has brought her grade up from -C to a B. She is not so confused about what she is doing and has become more confident.
Hector knew exactly what he was doing to fill in the gaps of My Girlfriend (Blue) learning of the Spanish language. Really worked with her and stepped her through the ins and outs of her previous test. Then pointed out items to be worked on.
My daughter has been tutored for 6 months now. It is the best investment I could make. She has greatly improved and continues to show discipline towards doing her homework. She looks forward to setting up the study area before he arrives and enjoys the mentoring he provides. He is very friendly and explains problems step by step slowly until she understands. She more confidence than ever and this has spilled over into other studies.
Hector is well prepared for our sessions. It's clear that he puts thought into them well before the lesson starts.
Sime arithmetic operations including fractions, decimals, arithmetic operators and exponents, reviewed the fractions and the operations with decimal. We did some exercises and he assigned homework to practice.
Hector is always very helpful. Offers various ways to look at information which helps in remembering formulas to get specific information. Always accommodating and on time for sessions.
Hector is a great tutor. He's very patient and he works through the problems by using the step by step approach. It's a good method.
My daughter is enthusiastic about understanding Algebra II after dealing with a HS teacher that has not lived up to expectations in any way. Hector S made great progress in the first visit. Thank you!
I needed help with my algebra homework very quickly, and Hector was available and ready to help. He was very polite and comfortable to be around. I am looking forward to having other sessions with him over the next couple of weeks because he is a great tutor and breaks everything down in easy to understand steps.
If you want to learn Spanish, Hector is a tutor you should consider. He takes time to determine not only what your current level is, but also who you are and what you are interested in in order to make the lessons fun to you. He makes an effort to get ready for every lesson to find the material that is suitable for you and that will make your session interesting and keep you engaged. I feel like I am making progress after every lesson and I look forward to the next one.
Hector, Is is working with my 15 year old grandson and he is able to help him understand the major differences and nuances between Spanish and English. Hector takes the time to teach the basics and to relate Spanish to the everyday.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
