Hello! I am Andrew, a seasoned math and test preparation tutor who is ready to support students of all backgrounds in ways that work for them, and conform to their style of learning!

About My Background: I hold an undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics with a graduate degree from Southern Oregon University. I have been a tutor since I was in high school, and have a passion for helping students however I can. I have worked in education for 15 years, including 10 years of academic advising, transfer support, admissions counseling and degree planning.

About My Tutoring Style: I focus on real conceptual understanding, not memorization. When I work with students, I tend to work through any materials they provide from their respective course, along with examples that I keep for additional learning. This is to help shift the conversation from tutor-led to student-led, allowing students to leave the session confident in their ability.

When students work with me, they can expect:
- 0% judgement, no matter what
- 100% of my attention and effort during our session
- Patience, understanding, and willingness to pivot to adapt to their learning needs.
- My gratitude for trusting me!

If you are interested in working with me, please let me know!

ACT English

I have years of experience getting students ready to take their first test or improve their scores. I have an adaptive approach depending on my student's needs and focus on overall comprehension. I am happy to assist students with scores on their GED (All sections), GRE (All sections), GMAT (All sections), ACT (All sections), SAT (Reading and Math), and MCAT (CARS) .
ACT Math

ACT Math

I help students conquer the 60 questions in 60 minutes by mastering Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry—the four pillars of the ACT Math section. My tutoring focuses on pacing strategies, identifying "calculator-active" shortcuts, and recognizing the specific integrated-reasoning patterns the ACT loves to test.
ACT Reading

ACT Reading

I have years of experience getting students ready to take their first test or improve their scores. I have an adaptive approach depending on my student's needs and focus on overall comprehension. I am happy to assist students with scores on their GED (All sections), GRE (All sections), GMAT (All sections), ACT (All sections), SAT (Reading and Math), and MCAT (CARS) .
ACT Science

ACT Science

I help students master the ACT Science section by focusing on data interpretation, research summaries, and conflicting viewpoints—the three core pillars of the test. Whether you are navigating the new Enhanced ACT with its 40-minute, 40-question format or looking to boost your STEM score, my tutoring emphasizes student success.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I help students conquer the foundations of high school math by simplifying linear equations, systems of inequalities, and the ever-intimidating quadratic formula. My tutoring focuses on turning abstract "x and y" variables into intuitive concepts, ensuring you're fully prepared for the Algebra 1 Regents or your next big chapter test.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I help students navigate the "gateway" to higher math by simplifying complex numbers, logarithms, and polynomial functions. By focusing on the "why" behind the transformations and the unit circle, I ensure you're fully prepared for the rigors of Precalculus and the ACT/SAT Math portion.
ASVAB

ASVAB

As a seasoned test preparation tutor, you can rest easy knowing that I will help you prepare for all 4 domains of the ASVAB, and their subtests. I will work through example problems, quick tips for success where I can, how to focus on time management, choice elimination and overall preparation. Whether you are interested in working through structured study plans, purchased materials, or just a specific domain/subtest, I am proud to assist you in your goals.
Calculus

Calculus

Let's be real, calculus can be tough. In one year, a student can move from derivatives and their rules, through integration, Fundamental Theorem, power series and sequences, and so much more. It is a lot to keep track of, so I pride myself on taking a step back, looking at the issues from a conceptual understanding, and helping students understand what is actually happening, not just solving one type of problem over an over.
DAT (Dental)

DAT (Dental)

I provide DAT students with the high-level strategies needed to master the 45-minute QR sprint. As a previous healthcare pathways advisor, with a degree in applied mathematics, I specialize in breaking down complex Algebra, Statistics, and Geometry into the time-saving shortcuts essential for dental school applicants. My approach combines the rigor of graduate-level prep with the flexibility I’ve honed as a tested math tutor. Whether you are aiming to improve your score or overcome math anxiety, I am here to help.

Whether you need to brush up on fractions or practice your essay writing, we will work at your pace to earn your credential through the official GED program.
Geometry

Geometry

I help students navigate everything from congruent triangles and coordinate geometry to those infamous two-column proofs. By focusing on visual problem-solving and the logic behind postulates and theorems, I turn complex shapes into high scores. Whether you are prepping for a honors-level final or building a foundation for the SAT Math section, we'll make the subject "click."
GMAT

GMAT

I help students master the GMAT Focus Edition by focusing on the three core sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights. My tutoring emphasizes strategic pacing, numerical literacy and student efficacy.
GRE

I help students navigate the shorter GRE format by mastering high-level Verbal and Quantitative reasoning and perfecting the "Analyze an Issue" essay. My tutoring focuses on section-level adaptive strategies, helping you perform at your peak in the first module to unlock the highest possible scoring potential in the second.
MCAT

MCAT

The CARS section of the MCAT represents one of the most difficult areas of preparation for many testers. I was a Healthcare Pathways advisor for several years, where I helped students prepare for this section of the MCAT. My approach centers on a structured decoding of each passage, with specific tips for Humanities and Social Sciences to drive quick understanding, tone recognition and author bias to inform all three levels of understanding that the AAMC looks for.
Physics

Physics

I help students demystify High School and AP Physics by turning complex kinematics, dynamics, and energy equations into intuitive concepts. Whether you are tackling AP Physics 1, 2, or C, we will focus on mastering the College Board's Equation Sheets and perfecting the Free Response (FRQ) strategies needed for a 5.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I help students build a rock-solid foundation by mastering integers, fractions, and the "magic" of isolating variables. My goal is to turn math anxiety into math mastery so you’re fully prepared for the challenges of Algebra 1.

Patient Tutor!

We were incredibly fortunate to find such an outstanding math tutor for our son this year. He was not only extremely smart and knowledgeable, but also patient, kind, and encouraging throughout every session. Unlike other tutors we’ve worked with in the past, he never made our son feel embarrassed or discouraged when he struggled with a concept. Instead, he took the time to explain things carefully until our son truly understood the material. What stood out most was his genuine dedication to our son’s success. He always provided thoughtful feedback after sessions and even recognized when extra help was needed, willingly spending additional time to make sure our son felt confident and comfortable moving forward. His support made a tremendous difference both academically and emotionally. He was truly amazing, and we feel incredibly blessed to have found him this year. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and highly effective math tutor.

Fantastic

Andrew was so helpful with my daughter (high school Junior) preparing for a pre-calculus test. He was also very understanding when she had to cancel at the last minute for the first scheduled meeting. She'll be using him again for sure next school year.

dedicated and effective CARS tutor

Mr. Andrew not only teaches during our sessions, but he also gives me reading assignments to complete outside of class. As a student learning from a tutor, I find this extremely valuable because it shows how much he genuinely desires not only to teach, but also to make sure I stay consistent and continue working hard to improve in the CARS section of the MCAT.

Excellent tutor

Andrew was very helpful during my son’s SAT diagnostic session. He was professional, patient, and clear in the way he walked through the material and helped identify where my son stands and what areas need more attention. I appreciated that the session felt focused and useful. Andrew explained things in a way that made sense, and my son felt comfortable working with him. This was a helpful first step in getting a clearer picture of what to focus on for SAT prep, and we had a positive experience.
