Saint Louis University (Biomedical Engineeri)
In May of 2015, I graduated from Saint Louis University Parks College of Engineering and Aviation with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Engineering Mathematics. During my time at SLU I was involved with activities such as the University Pep Band, BMES (Biomedical Engineering Society), Relay for Life, and Campus Kitchen to name a few. I also worked as a camp counselor for one of the summer programs SLU offered for potential prospects for the Engineering and Aviation program. My senior year, I was the project facilitator for a device, of my own design, for wheelchairs that creates a custom kicking motion based off the settings chosen by the user.
I have also volunteered at a facility for kids with special needs, Team Activities for Special Kids (TASK), for the past 3 years, and now I am fortunate enough to be working there as a Part-Time Program Coordinator. We provide special needs individuals of all ages with a variety of activities through out the year while providing social opportunities.
At the beginning of 2016 I began working at a nursing home as a Program Assistant for the therapy department. During my time there I have been involved in multiple events; I organized a prom for the residents by looking for decorations, making and sending out invitations, and other preparations. In addition, I am also currently working on multiple smaller projects within the facility.
Through my education I have taken many math and science classes and will be able to use my knowledge to help you understand the material. I have always had a passion for teaching and am hoping this opportunity will allow me to share my skills with you and help you in any way I can.
I have always excelled at mathematics since a very early age. With an engineering degree I was required to take many upper level math classes and graduated with a minor in Engineering Mathematics. Being able to help create a solid foundation in math would not only prepare you for higher level classes, but would also allow me to share my skills and knowledge to help you.
With my vast set of skills I am confident that I would make a great tutor. I am very patient and will look for different ways to present the material so that it makes sense for you! I will do everything I can to help you succeed! I look forward to working with you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have played clarinet since the 5th grade. Throughout middle school and high school I practiced almost everyday to better my playing skills. In high school I was part of the wind ensemble, pep band, and marching band all 4 years, all which allowed me to further develop my skills. I was also selected for all district honors band 3 years after auditioning. During high school I volunteered to tutor middle school band students that played clarinet.
When I went off to college I focused more on my professional education, but was still involved in the university pep band.
