Hello, My name is Garrett and I graduated from Missouri S&T with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. I graduated from S&T with 2.59 GPA, High school with a 3.95 GPA, my highest of four ACT tests was 30, and I have passed the fundamentals of engineering exam. Math for me is more than just a career skill, a strong subject, or a necessary skill. For me it's a toolset for solving complex problems that reaches into all aspects of life whether you recognize it or not.

While I'm not formally trained or practiced in tutoring I have trained many people to do many tasks. I take a 3 phase approach to teaching people: Show, Guide, Watch. I like to show someone the thing I’m teaching them. Then I like to guide them as we work on the lesson together. Finally I would only give assistance as they take the lead in working on the task at hand. I would happily stop and demonstrate as many times as needed, giving encouragement the entire way. This method has worked well for me, and I have been chosen as a trainer in many of the places I have worked because of it. I feel I can teach theory alone effectively, but I give and retain information better by working with examples.
My knowledge in math is the foundation my education and career has been built on. Not only am I well studied in math principles from arithmetic all the way up to calculus and differential equations, but I also regularly practice problem solving with these tools as a way to sate my curiosity and keep my mind sharp.
