I am a substitute teacher and a teaching student. I have a genuine love of learning and I respect the fact that we all learn in different ways. I strive to find ways to teach students in whatever way they can learn the material. I also believe that learning is a life-long endeavor. We learn every day through various experiences. I am a substitute teacher and a teaching student. I have a genuine love of learning and I respect the fact that we all learn in different ways. I strive to find ways to teach students in whatever way they can learn the material. I also believe that learning is a life-long endeavor. We learn every day through various experiences. For that reason, I try to relate content to everyday life. I know that everyone makes mistakes, and I recognize mistakes as a way of increasing knowledge. We have to know what DOESN'T work, so we make mistakes, and then go from there! Success is accomplished through setting and reaching realistic goals, therefore, I try to help students set goals and work towards them.
I believe that learning should be a positive experience with LOTS of feedback. Learning is an adventure. Everyone on this Earth has valuable knowledge that is needed in our society. Who knows if we have the next Einstein, Edison, Keller, or Lincoln hiding out somewhere just waiting for someone to listen to their ideas and help them reach their goals? So I make it a point to let students voice their opinions and give them feedback!
I have been in the middle school environment for the past year, teaching all subjects as a substitute teacher. One of my favorite things to teach is Math because it just makes sense! I have had to learn lots of little tricks for math to understand it. Sometimes Math seems so overwhelming, but when you really just understand the underlying relationship in numbers, you can conquer it!
I have a great interest in biology. It relates so much to everyday life that it's easy to understand and to explain.
I have been a reader/writer since I was a young child. When I was 4 years old my neighbor taught me to read National Geographic magazines sitting on her front porch. I have been devouring words since then!
