Hannibal LaGrange College (Organizational Management)
I have worked in education since 2007. I worked in the special education department for 2 years. I taught high school FACS for three years, and am currently working back in the special education department for grades 1-12. I am a certified teacher in the areas of General Science (5-12), Elementary Education (1-6), and in Special Education (1-12). My experience working in the special education classroom has given me the experience in being able to look into the problem students are struggling with and finding a solution. In our classroom we use multiple techniques to help our students learn concepts. Science and math are my areas, but I am also very knowledgeable in helping in ELA and social sciences and can help with study skills as well.
My experiences reach from grades 1 through 12. I work well with all ages of students and have found I can transition easily from grade to grade. I am easy to work with and students tend to work easily with me. I have worked with small groups, large groups and one on one. I do not judge or give up when a student can not get a concept, I will find a way to work through it until a solution is found. I also worked in accounting for 13 years and can tutor in areas of accounting and business. I hold a bachelor's in Organizational Management.
I am available to work around most schedules and would really enjoy working with your student. If you have any questions please contact me. I have worked in education since 2007. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently a certified elementary teacher grades (1-6). I have worked with elementary students for the last two years. I have been able to learn differentiated instruction to help individualized students who struggle with different concepts, while working in the special education classroom. I think getting to the root of a problem makes a difference, rather than just working out problems to get through them. I have worked side by side with the class room teacher. I tutored after school in small groups in math, science, social studies, ELA in grades 1-8.
I taught High School FACS for three years. During these three years I taught a Nutrition class to my high school students. This class consisted of an extensive look at the different aspects of nutrition. Not only the food groups but how they work together and how to overcome deficiencies from impoverished areas. Students were required to prepare complete menus and research foods from around the world.
I have been working with elementary students for the last two years. I have been working with certain students who struggle with phonics. Using different approaches and methods such as chunking and repetition works with some students, while other approaches work with others. We worked with a new ELA program with our Elementary students over the last year that seemed to work on the computer.
