About Danielle

I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in Spanish Education. After graduation, I obtained a job at a local school teaching K-8, so I'm experienced working with everything from kindergarten through high school. I've tutored a few people in the past, with great results! I use methods ranging from flashcards to guided practice to conversation to help students learn. It's important to suit the lesson to the student's needs. One way I recently helped a student was using color coded lessons, to help sort information by type.

I have no set schedule at the moment, so feel free to contact me if you have any questions or wish to schedule a meeting. I am happy to provide online tutoring as well!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Photoshop

I taught myself Photoshop. I did take a class on Photoshop, but everything we covered was something I'd taught myself already. I've taught several people the basics of Photoshop.

Spanish

I graduated with a degree in Spanish Education. As part of obtaining my degree, I spent a month in Ecuador to improve my fluency. From my time spent teaching, I know a variety of useful tools to help students learn. I believe that sometimes explaining the topic in a different way can help students to learn.

Study Skills

As a teacher, I spend a considerable amount of time teaching my students how to study. Knowing how to study is the first step in success in any subject. I use tools such as Quizlet to help students realize that studying can be fun. I also think it's very important to teach students how to take notes and put their notes into an outline to make it easier to study in the future. I will work with students to create a positive study environment, free from distractions, and to help them figure out their learning style, as not everyone learns the same way. An example of this, is that for visual learners, I encourage them to sort things into charts and include pictures when possible.
