Hello everyone! My name is David. I am 28 years old and spent 2.5 years in the Peace Corps in the small country of El Salvador working with elementary aged children teaching them math, English, reading, and writing. After the Peace Corps I spent another 2 years working for an organization called Project EAGLE in Kansas City teaching Spanish speaking families about early childhood education and school readiness. Working at Project EAGLE I was also a translator for several professional documents for parents and staff, direct verbal translation during conference calls and meetings, and assisted families who needed school resources for their children.
My Spanish learning seriously began when I was 15 and have been actively practicing Spanish for the past 10 years and speaking Spanish fluently for the past 4.5 years. I have tutored children from ages 3-10 in Spanish and I am fully capable of tutoring middle school and high school aged students as well, even adults. I provide a wide variety of language learning techniques during my tutoring session and I follow a Spanish curriculum that provides options for the students learning styles and preferences.
In the areas of Math and Physiology I have had more experience tutoring Math than Physiology and at K-State I tutored Algebra 1 and 2. I have yet to tutor students in Physiology but I completed Anatomy and Physiology at K-State and recieved an A and I feel confident in this subject as well.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss your interests in Spanish, Math, or Physiology and we can establish a general curriculum for you to improve your skills quickly. Hello everyone! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been tutoring college students in intermediate and college algebra for 3 years from 2007 to 2010 and went to the peace corps and taught algebra in Spanish for another 2 years. I try to reach the students needs by asking them their own learning style and providing an easy learning style curriculum.
