My primary goal as an educator is to model democratic education principles in my teachings by respecting diverse students’ identities and abilities and supporting students’ learning styles. I received my Certificate in University Teaching Skills from Saint Louis University which have helped me acquire the skills necessary to design a discipline-specific courses with appropriate instructional methodology and provided me with fundamental knowledge on classroom teaching skills. My recent teaching and research experience have prepared me to teach a wide array of courses in education and sociology. I co-taught sections in Children’s Literature and Media course, assisted the supervising faculty in curriculum design and in the review of course materials, advised undergraduate students, and assessed students’ learning. I have also taught classes in upper-level Research Methods and Advanced Qualitative Research courses; and advised doctoral students on their dissertation process through peer-to-peer mentoring.

I am very interested in tutoring social science courses at all levels including Education, Sociology, and Qualitative Research. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss with students the teaching/learning experience based on my areas of specialty and on what will best fit into their educational goals.

In addition, I designed and conducted my dissertation research, in which I have demonstrated the extensive advanced qualitative research skills that I have acquired throughout my coursework and assistantship at Saint Louis University. Also, I worked on publishing a quantitative study titled “Examining the Relationship between Motivations and Resilience in Different International Student Groups Attending US Universities” (Mostafa & Lim, 2020). Moreover, I served as a program reviewer and presented at various national and international educational conferences where I had the chance to disseminate the results of my research.
