About Jordan

I am a college student looking for teaching experience. I am a Special Education major that will be graduating in the spring.

I have worked at both districts around Cape girardeau and Jackson so I am familiar with the materials being taught at both schools. I have plenty of experience with all ages of children because I have worked in a fourth grade classroom, a first grade classroom, and I am currently in a high school classroom. I have also worked as a babysitter/nanny for over ten years.

Working with people who have special needs has made me very flexible in the way that I teach. I am able to work with all types of learners and come up with new and exciting ways to help people learn along with enjoying learning.

I am very organized and prepared which helps me to take this job very seriously and make sure that you or your child is getting the instruction they need so that they can do well and learn the subject. I am willing to try new things and I do not give up easily, I will work hard for you or your child.

I am willing to help with all subjects and will even do extra research to make sure that I know about the topic that you need help with. I know how hard school can be because I struggled all through out my education. I want to help you learn the material and fully understand the subject.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Handwriting

I am qualified for this subject because I am a special education major that has passed the Missouri Content Assessment exam for Special Education and all of the other content assessment exams which includes all of the subjects for elementary education. I have also taken over thirty hours in Special Education classes which include information on all disabilities, and my other credit hours are geared towards general education for elementary students. In the past year, I have worked in a first grade classroom and a four grade classroom helping out with all subjects. I have also taken a semester on early literacy which taught me how to help al students read and write through out all elementary grades.

Public Speaking

I have always been afraid of public speaking, but I made it my goal to work through this fear and now I want to help others do the same. I took a public speaking class in college which also taught me how to write a good speech. I also have experience in public speaking because I was the president of my student council in high school, a vice president for an organization at college, and I am now working on becoming a teacher and have taught many lessons which required speaking in front of the whole class.

Study Skills

I have always struggled with studying skills so I want to help others and share with them the skills that I have learned over time. I want to teach them how to study without memorizing and how to use unique ideas like I do for my studying. Currently, my college classes and I are taking the Missouri Content Assessment exams and I am the only one to pass all tests on the first try. I am now helping my classmates and they have been passing the tests as well.

Swimming

I have been on the swim team since I was eight year old and swam all the way through high school. I also give lessons at the Southeast College pool where I have given lessons on techniques that can help people become better swimmers and fasters swimmers.
