Teaching and learning are my passions. Whether it has been as a college professor, classroom teacher, parent, or tutor, my goal is to make complex ideas easy and to help my students truly understand what they need to learn. I have learned that every student has their own strengths and talents. The best way to help you learn is to find the style that works best for you. Whether you are just trying to bring your grades up, prepare for a big test, or just trying to keep your head above water, I can help. We will not only learn the subject but also effective learning and study strategies for you to use when taking tests, learning in class, and working on your homework on your own. I look forward to helping you or your student succeed. Background check updated regularly through current school district employer and through tutoring services. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have recently helped one student improve her AP Geometry grade from a C to an A. I am currently working with a student that failed Geometry, helped him pass with a B during summer school and now have him feeling confident in Algebra II.
I have worked in the field of special education since 1986 as a teacher, teacher educator, and private tutor. I have a BA and MA in Special Education, and PhD in Curriculum & Instruction with focus on Inclusion. All students have strengths that we can help them utilize to increase their learning and reduce their frustration.
