Covenant Theological Seminary (Graduate Coursework)
I love working with elementary, junior high and high school students to encourage and strengthen their unique strengths and talents. I am particularly skilled in English and at writing and communicating. I have experience as a substitute teacher, an elementary voluntary tutor, an assistant director of admission at Colorado College, and as an evaluator with Westlake Scholarship Foundation. I have taught various subjects in the classroom as a substitute, but am most skilled in writing and communicating. I have also evaluated hundreds of college essays in my past work experience. I can assist students not only with writing and communicating more successfully in their school assignments, but also in successfully and creatively organizing and completing their college essays and applications.
I have 8 years of experience as a substitute teacher and have been pursuing part-time a Masters in Educational Ministries at Covenant Theological Seminary with the goal of teaching in the classroom in the future. I am available currently because I choose to stay home with my two children who are in high school.
I have fun with students because I like to help them recognize their strengths and how much they have to offer. My goal is to inspire and encourage students to love learning and to love putting forth their best effort in their work. I have a winsome style, rather than a demanding and authoritative approach. I have a very good sense of humor and enjoy laughing with kids. I believe in respecting each individual student and allowing them space to express themselves and to find and cultivate their strengths. I also require respect and courtesy from them at all times. When there is mutual respect, the sky is the limit! I will be their advocate and will do my very best to help them achieve their goals and improve their performance. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have participated in and led Bible studies for over 40 years. I have completed graduate coursework in Biblical studies and education at Covenant Theological Seminary pursuing a masters in educational ministries. I have participated in at least a dozen Community Bible Study(CBS), Bible Study Fellowship Bible(BSF) and Bible studies within the church. I have also completed extensive Biblical coursework throughout all of middle school, high school and college. I am a lifelong student of the Bible.
I have extensive public speaking experience from giving presentations to both large and small audiences nationwide while employed as Assistant Director of Admission at Colorado College. I have continued my public speaking training and education while substitute teaching and by completing graduate education coursework. I have also led small groups and taught in church settings.
I am enrolled at Covenant Theological Seminary and have completed graduate level coursework in the Old and New Testament. I have also completed and led numerous Bible studies and am very knowledgeable about all the writings of CS Lewis.
I studied and completed coursework on religion, specifically the Old and New Testaments throughout both high school and college and it has been a lifelong educational pursuit.
I take great joy in writing and helping students find their voice in writing. I have helped my own three children become excellent writers and assisted many other students as a former substitute teacher.
