I completed my master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction at Georgia Tech in May 2014. I received my bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Business and Spanish. I have tutored math, physics, and economics at grade-school and college levels for about 6 years. I worked with 1-2 students per school semester on a regular basis, along with many others who simply wanted one-time sessions.
I was a teaching assistant for 3 of my 4 semesters at Georgia Tech, and much of my volunteer work at UT Austin involved teaching, usually to elementary- and middle-school students. As a member of SEEK (Student Engineers Educating Kids), I visited a local elementary school once a week to teach students about science through hands-on experiments. At "Explore UT", a university-wide open house, I helped grade-school students build solar cars while teaching them about the physics behind the activity.
I am confident in my ability to teach math, and I try to explain concepts in terms that are easily understood. Feel free to contact me with any questions! Alex is a great tutor! When I didn't understand a concept, he would find another way to explain it to me. Alex is probably one of the best tutors I have ever had. After each math session, Alex made me feel more confident in the material! I understood all the concepts and tools that I needed to solve the problems. I highly recommend him to anyone who is struggling in math.
Alex helped me with my intermediate algebra. I am taking an online class. He put things into terms that I could understand instead of just looking at a textbook or online course. Very polite and a great tutor overall.
My son was having difficulty in Geometry so I contacted Alex. He responded quickly to my inquiries. He was very patient and was able to clearly explain the math concepts to my son. After the tutoring session he had a clear understanding. We plan on contacting him again for additional sessions.
Alex has helped my grandson understand the principals of algebra. Not only is he patient but has great tutoring skills with teenagers. I would recommend Alex to anyone who needs understanding with the subjects he tutors. Thank you again for this service.
My daughter was having a difficult time passing the high school math TAKS test, and this was very frustrating for her. The school offered a tutorial program and still the information just wasn't sinking in. We decided to go another route and get her some one on one math tutoring Alex was great, professional, punctual, courteous, and patient. If there was something that she did not understand, he worked the problem with her several different ways until she did understand it. Her math skills and confidence level started to improve right away. The transformation was amazing to watch from a parent's point of view. Alex has great teaching abilities, and when it comes to the higher levels of math, he is top notch. I highly recommend Alex to anyone who needs help with their math.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
