Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me. Many years ago I began my college education as a Zoology Biomedical major. Then a wonderful opportunity came along to go to Singapore. This began my love of teaching, educating and working with adults, children and families from all over the world. It is so amazing to see a child's face light up when the information clicks in his brain. It is equally exciting to see the confidence and excitement build in the adult who now feels he/ she can conquer any task that comes his way, because he has been given the tools to succeed. This is what education is all about, being armed with the tools to succeed and over come any obstacle that comes along.

I have over 15 years of experience in the education sector. have had the opportunity to work with adults, high school students, and children from birth through school age. I have also worked with children that have developmental speech delays, auditory processing issues, speech impairments and physical limitations from various Special Needs programs. I have written and sold educational books and created educational activity books.

I specialize in tutoring various Elementary subjects, TOEFL, GED, and ESL/ESOL. Whether we are woking on phonics or math, my goal is to keep students challenged, confident, and too feel supported. I assign homework after each lesson, provide study tools and techniques, and provide periodic assessments and a progress report. We are in this together.

Feedback from families and adult students is very important to me. It is a way to make sure I am meeting your goals. I am flexible, offer a 24 hours cancellation policy, and allow for makeup classes.

Because I feel learning is on going and we must always feed our brain with knowledge. I offer SUMMER SESSIONS in my subjects, to help one prepare for an upcoming grade or to just keep the information he/she has learned in his mind.

To ensure my students can learn as much as possible with few distractions, I have a tutoring office in Ellisville, where I teach private lessons and group classes. However, I am happy to travel to another location and I am available for online sessions if that is more convenient for the student.

It would be my pleasure to become your tutor and provide you with that extra special push that is needed to help you succeed. I look forward to hearing from you!

Reading

Reading is about understanding what is said as well as understanding the biases, assumptions, and perspectives underlying the discussion. The world becomes portrayed by a text. It is critical for a reader to be armed with ability to understand understand this in order to be successful in his reading ability. Because one can write only as well as he reads, The reader needs to be able to decipher words and sentences on the page. The reader needs to be able to grasp the spelling and grammar to construct their own sentences. Reading is a critical component to writing. The reader can not write without reading what is written or understanding how language works to communicate ideas. Most of all reading is an analytic activity. I will help the reader reread a text to identify patterns of elements -- information, values, assumptions, and language usage. This giving him a technique for discovering information and ideas within a text.

Through my experiences in working with children and adults with ADD/ADHD, I know many have deficits in executive function: meaning he/she needs support in thinking and planning ahead, organizing, controlling impulses, and completing any task. I have the ability to provide extra guidance (e.g. using a timer for study sessions - this will support focus and organization skills) for the child or adult while he/she learns executive skill of his or her own.

Very grateful to have found her when I did. My children and any future children will be going to her.
