As a full-time law-school professor, I taught civil procedure, constitutional liberties, legal writing and research, and professional responsibility in person and online. With Wyzant, I have tutored students in all of those subjects as well as in torts and evidence. While a law school professor, I also taught courses in advanced civil procedure, federal jurisdiction, and insurance law.

As a part-time undergraduate instructor, I currently teach media ethics and law online. I also have taught introductory and advanced journalism, courses as well as a First Amendment seminar.

My specialties are explaining civil procedure in terms students can understand, preparing students and law school graduates for the MPRE and bar exam, and helping students and practicing attorneys improve their legal-writing skills.

As a litigation attorney for 12 years, I used almost every subject of the law in my law practice. My first career was newspaper journalism. I earned a master's degree from Northwestern University and worked as a professional journalist for 14 years. I am an experienced workplace investigator and provide investigation services as a consultant.

As time allows, I serve as a substitute teacher in the public schools. I have been in classrooms for grades 6-12 where students are studying English, social studies, and music. I hold a Minnesota Three-Year Short-Call Substitute Teaching License.
