I teach Portuguese since 2007 here in Minnesota and I am a certified instructor for an important language school. I love teaching and seeing my students improving. I am committed to helping people achieve their goals on the Portuguese language and I focus especially on their pronunciation.
I have a degree in communications and many other courses that I have been taking extensively during my life. I believe that every person is unique and has a special way to learn.
People say that I am a very patient tutor and also creative and professional. I make my classes fun with videos, music, nice texts and I have many books for different student levels, from beginners to advanced.
I teach in my house, at the student's house or another place convenient for both of us. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you to improve your Portuguese skills. Valeria was patient with me as I practiced! She did a wonderful job gauging my level of understanding and figuring out an appropriate level of challenge for me. I am excited to meet again and to practice in the mean time!
Valeria was wonderful! I am a professional singer, so I had an aria in Portuguese that I had absolutely no idea how to pronounce. All I had asked for was a basic pronunciation of the text, and I was happily surprised when we went over the basics of the language; it helped so much when we finally got to the text of my aria. She was on time, patient, thorough, and efficient, and I would most definitely meet with her again (which I plan to!)! I was very excited to be able to do a decent pronunciation of the aria by the end of the session, and even with all of my singing diction courses, Portuguese is not the easiest language to pick up quickly. Overall, she is a great teacher/tutor, so I can't recommend her enough. Thank you again Valeria!
I had another lesson again, and it was amazingly helpful again! In-between our lessons, Valeria took the time to send me a translation of the text (and as any singer knows, finding a translation on the Internet is not ideal and often incorrect and unreliable) that was correct AND listened to recordings of singers to find the best one for me to listen to! To me, this is above and beyond the job, so I was so impressed and appreciative. I now feel totally confident to go and sing this professional singing gig after only TWO WEEKS (I received the gig last minute or would have loved to have studied longer with her) of lessons with her!! Again, Valeria was absolutely wonderful, and I can't recommend her enough again! Thank you Valeria!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching Portuguese for a international Language School and also privately. I am available to teach in my house or at any other place that we both agreed.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
