Born and raised in inner-city north Minneapolis, Alex’s first memories of music involved a room full of Legos, alternative rock radio, and hip hop and neo-soul grooves floating from open windows.
Alex started playing the guitar at age 11. And he later attended McNally Smith, where he became an exchange student who studied music in Germany. This provided him fantastic opportunities like participating his host school's first contemporary musical, and performing with the Deutsche Pops Orchester in front of a sold out crowd as the youngest performer onstage.
After graduation, Alex earned an Engineering degree to build and repair electronic instruments and was asked to teach before he graduated. He politely declined, opting to build his roster of private students, and started a YouTube channel that received 250,000 hits and 1300 new subscribers in the first year.
After five years of teaching guitar to 30-55 students per week, he developed teaching techniques and methods that many teachers never have the volume to experiment with. So stop learning London Bridge and start learning what you want!
