I have been writing stories for thirty years. Many of them were published in Veterans' Voices. I have been published in City Pages too. I was a reporter for the Minnesota Daily in 1971. I am an accomplished reader with an expertise in Hemingway and American literature.
I play handball to stay in shape. I have a passion for theater and attend as often as I can. I review plays for a local newspaper. I am a great teacher with a passion for books. I have a BA in English and MBA from the University of Minnesota.
I emphasize understanding of content, treatment, and value in my critique of literary work. Is the work interesting? Is it any good? Has the author driven me to action, moved me, or taught me anything? Is the work fun? Is it honest? All published books are great in their own way. Why? I have eclectic tastes and find good books everywhere. I am able to handle complex material and simple stuff too. I have a good sense of grammar. How would someone say this? Does it make sense? Is it affected? Does it have beauty? I like good phrasing.
I am easy to get along with, fun, a great teacher, and patient. I have a passion for good books and am thrilled when I read good writing. I am moved by great literature but love a good job even in lesser work. Because of my many previous jobs and customer service experience, I can work with many different kinds of people. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
