I love teaching and tutoring, seeing young minds expand as they are introduced to new subject matter. I have taught in the COMPAS Writers-in-the-Schools program, the SteppingStone Playwrights-in-the-Schools program, and the Center for Arts Criticism Critics-in-the-Schools program. My other teaching venues have included The Loft, Hamline University, the University of Minnesota, the General Mills Corporation, and the Minnesota Society of Technical Communicators.
Professionally I have had three youth musicals commissioned and produced by SteppingStone Theater. Along with a poet friend, I started the poetry slam series at Kieran's Pub. I then moved to New York for 17 years where I directed off off Broadway at the Riant Theatre, had my work read on Broadway at Symphony Space, and worked in the marketing department at HBO. I have published three books: two for adults and one for children, and I am currently working on a self-motivational book. Writing is my passion and I've been writing since I was in the fourth grade when I would write 20 page book reports. I can help you with any of your writing and reading needs. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I grew up in the church, attended vacation bible school every summer until I became a teenager and went to St. Mary's camp for girls. As a therapist I use scriptures as therapeutic interventions. And although I do not practice, I am an ordained minister.
I took art classes at the Art Institute of Chicago for 3 years in high school. I entered school and professional art fairs throughout my high school years. Most recently I have been a rostered artist at Fountain Gallery in New York City.

I taught a course in pre-GED study skills for students with persistent mental illness at Fountain House in New York City. There I also taught a class on How to Study. I have tutored individuals on how to Study; and created a PowerPoint presentation on the same topic which I'm sure I could recreate if necessary.
I was a theatre artist in the schools through the SteppingStone Artist in the Schools Program through which I taught grades K-12. I had 3 children's musicals commissioned and produced by Stepping Stone. I also directed 3 plays off off Broadway at the Riant Theatre in New Year City.
I have published two adult collections of short stories, and edited a book of poetry written by children I taught. I have also had three children's musicals produced which I was commissioned to write.
