My name is Najaha. I'm 25 years old and graduated from Saint Olaf College in 2012. I am a stay-at-home mom of a fantastic 3-yea old son. We love to learn our ABC's, 123's and new sing-alongs as he loves to sing! I will be going back to school later this year to pursue my medical doctor degree.

Hello,

My name is Najaha. I'm 25 years old and graduated from Saint Olaf College in 2012. I am a stay-at-home mom of a fantastic 3-yea old son. We love to learn our ABC's, 123's and new sing-alongs as he loves to sing! I will be going back to school later this year to pursue my medical doctor degree.

My background is in biology but my concentration was in pre-medicine in undergrad so I have 2+ years of coursework in chemistry as well, including organic chemistry. Because I went to a small liberal arts college, I have also taken college-level courses in the humanities (philosophy, literature, sociology, psychology etc.). Aside from my college coursework, I have experience tutoring college-bound high school juniors and seniors. I tutored science, English, and french at Central High School (Saint Paul) in my free-time when I was in college. At one session, I overlooked 15 students working on home-work assignments and provided one-on-one support where needed. I also tutored my younger brother in SAT-subject tests/ACT. He was very successful and is now a sophomore at Princeton University.

My tutoring method is very simple. First I assess the student's strengths and weakness. I accomplish this through looking at student's past academic track such as past homework assignments. We will work together to find the weak areas on assignments and determine the priority of our tutoring time. This is to get a better understanding of what he/she needs to work on so we don't waste any time. Then we attack the weak areas by understanding what techniques has/has not worked. When we have a better feel for what kind of learner the student is, we can better drive the ideas home. I found that working on the weak areas first results in better test scores, especially on standardized exams. I can attest to this as I have completed my MCAT review all on my own and my strategies paid off big time!
