Makerere University Kampala (Uganda) (Chemistry)
I am a gifted mathematician and a people person. I am capable of motivating others and getting the very best out of them. One hour with me is an hour of fun and enlightenment. I am results oriented.
I just migrated to the United States, from Uganda one year ago. I bring with me more than 10 years of experience, teaching math and chemistry in high school. I hold a bachelor of Science degree With Education from Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. While at the University I did Math, Chemistry and Education. I taught math in Uganda since the year 2000 until the year 2012.
I am able to simplify seemingly difficult concepts into easy processes that a lay person can see. I am persuaded that, unless an individual has a disorder, any one can excel at math. Math is tough when you believe that it is tough, but if others have done it, then you can do it and even better than anyone else.
My principle is the principle of repetition. What we do repeatedly becomes second nature to us. Some people say, practice makes perfect. Therefore in my "math clinic", I create opportunities for a student to repeat a procedure a number of times until the procedure becomes second nature.
Any one with head and a brain in it uses math daily, consciously or unconsciously. The math we do in school seems to be difficult because that is what we have been told. When a lie is told so many times it sounds like the truth. I encourage my students not to believe the lie that "Math is tough". NO! Any one can excel at math, given the right practice patterns.
Never forget that, there is nothing worthwhile that comes on a silver plate. In order to excel at math, you must put in an hour or two, daily. The greatest sportsmen in the world do not just wake up and score points, they do their home work, they practice. Talent without commitment is dead. I am a gifted mathematician and a people person. I am capable of motivating others and getting the very best out of them. One hour with me is an hour of fun and enlightenment. I am results oriented.

For a group of 3 or more students, the hourly rate is $40. I cannot tutor more than 4 students at a go.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
