University of Minnesota Duluth (Chemical Engineering)
Since I was a small child I have always had a love of learning. This passion has driven me to earn a B.S. in Biology, and currently pursue a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Math, science, and many other subjects have always been an interest of mine (even outside of school). These subjects frequently need considerable help to learn effectively, and my understanding of this fact sets me apart from most.
Due to high grades, I have not only made the Dean's List but also tutored General Physics in the UMD Tutoring Center. I have over two years of strong experience in tutoring (with over 300+ hours of combined volunteer/professional tutoring hours) and in 2014 earned Master Level International Tutor's Certification. In order to further develop my skills, I am constantly looking for new tutoring opportunities.
I specialize in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology up to a sophomore university level (with tutees having ranged in age from 11 to 32). I have also done considerably well in subjects outside this scope as well. In a typical session I will go over the fundamentals of the subjects needed to learn as well as assign homework and provide helpful feedback.
Please know I am NOT willing to be your child's disciplinarian, but am more than happy to be their tutor. I excel at (and have training in) helping students learn material they do not understand. In my experience the vast majority of unmotivated students cannot be helped as they do not want to help themselves.
I am willing to have a free consulting session with you and your family to see if I would be a good fit as your tutor. Please know I have a very busy schedule, and request a 12-hour notice prior to any session cancellation. Since I was a small child I have always had a love of learning. Andrew was outstanding with my son in teaching him algebra 2, dividing by polynomials. My son was able to grasp and understand Andrew's teaching method.
Andrew is very pleasant and has a calming manner in teaching. I was very impressed by his ability to teach my son.
I am quite pleased that Andrew is a perfect match, and we will be using him for help throughout the years.
Andrew is a great young man! Always on time, very professional, connects well with his student. Andrew has been a great help to our son!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
