University of Lagos & Université de Grenoble, France (French)
Hamline University, St. Paul (Graduate Coursework)
I have been a French and English teacher for several years working with both middle and high school students. During my undergraduate studies, I had the unique opportunity to study for one year at the Université de Grenoble III in France on a French government scholarship awarded based on my performance in French language.
I am currently a graduate student of Hamline University pursuing my Master of Arts in Teaching of French K-12. Having gained a lot of skills while undergoing training at Hamline and teaching school kids during my student-teaching experience, I am competent in teaching French to students at both middle and high schools. I can also help students with English assignments especially in grammar and writing. I will employ various teaching techniques to meet the individual needs of the students. For instance, I will use flash cards, recorded cassettes, and good textbooks among others. Differentiation of instruction will play a major role in my tutoring sessions.
As a father of three kids in college and high school, I am very tolerant and patient with young kids. I am hardworking and very lively in class because of fun activities that I will introduce to students. I can tutor all beginners in French and adults who are interested in conversational French. Hope to hear from you very soon. I have been a French and English teacher for several years working with both middle and high school students. We had Isaac come to work with our 8th grade son to help him improve his French grade. He has been working with Isaac for just a few sessions but is already gaining ground and seems more confident that he'll be able to handle the work assigned in class. Isaac is VERY nice and easy to work with, and our son really likes him. My son is only in his second year of French but Isaac seems like he could handle any level you would need.
Thanks Karen, for your kind words. Your words of encouragement have certainly bolstered my morale and I feel energized to try my best to contribute in a significant way to Ryan's improvement in French in and outside the classroom.
Isaac was an amazing tutor! The first session I was already learning how to speak conversational French. Very friendly and easy to work with!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The main goal of my tutoring is to help students to develop interpretive and communicative competence in French language.
They will start from the basics and progress toward acquisition of these important skills. To achieve this, emphasis will be placed on developing oral, reading and writing skills. Vocabulary development and grammar will also be part of the tutoring program. Students will be introduced to the culture of French-speaking countries. I will encourage each student to speak French as much as possible during tutoring sessions. Also, there will be fun activities like French songs, etc., to enhance their learning.
