About me:

Helping students reach new levels of success is my passion! I adjust my support to fit each student's individual goals and learning style. I have a B.A. from Smith College and have completed several graduate courses in education (including assessment and intervention). I have been tutoring full-time for several years, and I love to see my students reach their goals.

I help my students get through their assignments while building their understanding. My students gain the skills needed to complete their work and make their classes easier. Learning flexible strategies and underlying concepts is the key to building a solid foundation for future success. I am also available to answer questions between sessions and to provide recommendations for additional resources.

Elementary Education

Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

Math is my favorite subject to tutor, because there are so many ways to teach it! I like to relate math to whatever topic interests you (sports, shopping, games, business) and explain concepts in multiple ways until we find what works for you.
Study Skills

Study Skills

My approach to study skills involves identifying goals, motivation, and strategies for making study sessions effective. No one wants to sit at a desk re-reading notes for hours, especially when it doesn’t give stellar results. Studying science isn’t the same as studying French, so why do we take the same approach? Let’s work together to find strategies that will produce results. I will help you set meaningful, measurable goals so that you can see your progress.

My clients find that focusing on their skills and goals is a more effective way to improve performance versus a one-size-fits-all program. I look forward to making a plan to fit your needs!

Pre-Calculus is a key stepping stone from high school Algebra and Geometry into college-level math and Calculus. In my years working with students at this level, I've found it helpful to meet students at their level. We can review material from previous coursework, and often fill in gaps, in order to build a more solid foundation for their Pre-Calc work.

Test Preparation

Accuplacer,

Accuplacer

I find helping students to prepare for the Accuplacer a truly rewarding experience. Performing well on the Accuplacer allows students to get off to a great start on their college experience. Starting at the right level of coursework allows students to progress in the most efficient way, sometimes allowing them to fulfill requirements earlier opening the door to electives, a minor, or earlier graduation. Without prep, some students can find themselves in a remedial course when they simply needed a refresher. I look forward to helping you prepare for the Accuplacer and a great start to college!

Excellent ACT Tutor

My daughter's ACT score went up 5 points after just a month of working with Katherine. Katherine's instruction and support provided our daughter with the knowledge, motivation and confidence she needed to be successful. We could not be more pleased with the results.

Great tutor!

Operation management ( MRP). Simply, I have met several tutors, no one has the skills and techniques that Katherine has. She has several methods to make you understand!! she has an integrity and money not everything to her as some tutors do. Go see her and you will be fine.

Great results

After a two hour session with Katherine, my son went from being certain he was going to fail his upcoming test (which I think was true) to being fairly confident he would get an A or at least a B. He thanked me for hiring her. In addition to the time she spent with him, she also emailed some worksheets with additional problems for him to practice.
