Hello, My name is Elise. I am available for private 1-to-1 adult instructor sessions.

Last, but not least, I am knowledgeable in the fields I teach. I am known for taking complex material and present it to my students in a very easy to understand manner with real-world examples.

I have a bachelor's degree in science from the School of Education in CTET, Career, Technical Education, and Training. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA, Magna Cum Laude, and was a member of the American Honors Society.

My real-world professional experience includes many years in areas of graphic design, digital photo editing, ad design/marketing, teaching Microsoft and Adobe software classes, publication layout, copy writing, writing and editing. I am currently a consultant and instructor to adults in the areas of: Technology, Software, Devices, and File Conversions; and for Writers/Authors in regards to Editorial Review, Publishing, and as a Writing Coach.

My goal is to empower adult students to succeed. I love helping others succeed and reach their goals.

There are three areas I specialize in: Basic Education including ELL/ESL, Computer/Technology Training, and Writing/Editing.

At this time my areas of focus are for adult learners for in these three areas: Basic Education including ELL/ESL focusing on conversational English; Computer/Technology/Software/Consulting Projects in regards to Training; and Writing/Editing/Writing Coach Services: I am available in person for local adult students and by Skype, etc for non-local students.

I am no longer accepting youth students.

Computer / Technology training for adults: Typing Skills (keyboarding), Basic Computer Skills, Digital Photography, Photo Editing & Graphics, QuickBooks, Quicken, Microsoft Mail, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, Excel and Access, Web Design, and other specialized software programs as well as consulting including but not limited to file conversions.

Writing & Editing: I work with adult writers who are at any level and in any stage of the writing process or project. I review stories, books, manuscripts and offer sessions as a Writing Coach on an ongoing basis. I do not write papers for students.

Adult Technology or Editorial Sessions: $132 = 2 hrs; $99 = 1 1/2 hrs. Cancellation Fee: $35 if session isn't canceled at least 24 hours before session; $50 if no cancellation attempt.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

As a special education tutor and para I understand the uniqueness to this type of tutoring.
I am a trained practical nurse and understand from a healthcare perspective the challenges of ADD/ADHD youth.
One-to-one training is very important for youth with special circumstances. Knowing and understanding the challenges is an opportunity for success when tutoring in a positive learning environment.

Adobe InDesign

I've designed layout, written and edited content for newspapers, blogs, various private and public publications and advertisements. I have designed and written marketing materials and promotional material for printers and advertising agencies. I've worked with magazine publishers, newspaper publishers, printers (pre-press) and newsletter publishers. I have been a graphic designer, instructor, and consultant for 15+ years using programs like Adobe InDesign.

Adobe Photoshop

I am a Graphic Artist & Graphic Designer for major advertising insurance international company in Chicago, IL;

I have been a Graphic Artist & Graphic Designer for pre-press printers in Missouri, a Digital Photography Editor, Graphic Artist & Graphic Designer Instructor through community education, community colleges and summer programs from 2000-Present.

Desktop Publishing

Since 1987 I've been a desktop publisher. I have used my laptop to do pre press work for printers, print originals for printers, print marketing materials and create newsletters as well as business cards, etc. I have taught others using Corel, Microsoft and Adobe products how to do desktop publishing through classes and private sessions since 1999 to present.

Elementary (K-6th)

As a K-6th grade education tutor and para in elementary schools I understand the uniqueness tutoring for elementary students.
I am a trained practical nurse and understand from a healthcare perspective the human and social development of children and preteens.
One-to-one training is very important for youth. It is an opportunity to build self esteem and self worth when presented in a positive learning environment aiming for success.

Elementary Science

Science is all around us. Successful students know the basics of reading and writing regardless of the subject. I loved science while in high school. Studying techniques exist to put your student on the road to success in the sciences.

Microsoft Access

I have been a Microsoft Access instructor for classes at Century College CECT program, Private Training programs, CompUSA, community education programs and private sessions (one on one) since 1999 to the present. All four methods are taught. SQL is for advanced students only. Medical queries workshop included.

Microsoft Excel

Taking what looks hard and making it easy for students to understand and learn is exactly what I do!
I have taught Excel classes and private sessions through community colleges, continuing education programs, training companies and private sessions.

Microsoft Outlook

It is now called Microsoft Mail not Outlook anymore. I've been teaching it since 1998 to present through CompUSA, AZ & MN community colleges, MN community education programs and private sessions. The calendar and the contacts is, of course, part of the course with Microsoft Mail. I've worked with/trained individuals, corporations and government entities.

Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Publisher is one of the classes I've been an approved district technology instructor for several community education programs. I taught a MS Publisher workshop for the state during the annual conference. I've been the lead instructor for teaching Publisher through CompUSA and teach it through private sessions. I am available only for private tutoring with this software with Wyzant.

Microsoft Windows

As a computer science major and a computer forensics, knowing the NTFS was required. I passed all courses with "A" and maintained 4.0 GPA in both fields. I have completed hardware and software courses for Windows Operating system. I teach courses on the windows OS through 5 community education districts. I have taught the windows OS through 2 community colleges as their lead instructor. I've been teaching windows os since 1997 to present.

Nutrition

I have taken college courses in nutrition. As a nurse nutrition is part of nursing. As a nurse, I am responsible for the meal planning/verification of those with chronic diseases such as diabetes and those on blood thinner medications. I have also taken home health college course/s as well, all with receiving an "A".

Proofreading

Mistakes can cost you more than you think. Learn to proofread and overcome your fears.

Public Speaking

My favorite class - Public Speaking. I continue to speak before groups and enjoy the opportunity to help others become successful public speakers.

QuickBooks

I have been a QuickBooks instructor for 20 years. I have been a QuickBooks Master through QuickBooks for several years. I teach QuickBooks through community colleges, business training schools, community education programs and private sessions. I am a highly rated technology instructor through many training programs. I work with individuals, small business owners, bookkeepers, entrepreneurs, mid-size businesses and specialty companies and programs regarding QuickBooks. Whether it is beginning or troubleshooting, I have successfully trained and consulted QuickBooks users in many states.

Reading

Reading is the most important skill in education. Without it students are frustrated, fall behind and lose confidence. I will show your student successful reading skills for a lifetime not just one class or subject.

Web Design instructor for classes and private sessions. There are many components of web design - graphics, text, visual, structure and content. I focus on graphics, web-builder tools, meta data, visual and content. I've taught design for websites for many years within private industry and public education.

Writing

I am an editor as well as a writing instructor. My years of experience are in editing, writing, copy-writing, ghost writing, publishing, printing, pre-press layout & graphic design services. Projects & assignments includes but not limited to magazine articles, newspapers, blogs, editorial services (book editing, reviews, developmental editorial services) & working with authors and writers.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin with my bachelor of Science degree in Career, Technical Education and Training.
