My field of work deals a lot with the chemical interactions of food ingredients. For example, marinades much reach a certain pH and salt concentration to effectively retain moisture in food. In addition, the acidity of a beverage will contribute to a particular mouthfeel. A good knowledge of chemistry is required to be successful in this field.
