I am a certified teacher living in Rockford with three master's degrees; one in Aerospace Engineering, one in mathematics, and one in theology.

I was a practicing Aerospace Engineer for five years before I began teaching numerous math and science courses for the past ten years at a Christian secondary school in Maple Grove.

I am competent and able to teach any high school math or science course and most collegiate math, physics, and engineering courses. My specialty is AP Calculus AB and BC, in which I have been an AP test grader and I can provide over 700 pages of personal curriculum and supplementary notes.

My students say that I have a very down to earth and easy going personality, which makes the learning environment more comfortable and more effective. Also, my schedule is flexible to meet your needs. Sessions are usually held during weekday evenings or on Saturday.

I am a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers, American Helicopter Society, American Physical Society, Mathematical Association of America, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Typical clients:
High school and college students wanting to maintain and improve their academic performance.
Home-schoolers.
Students preparing for the ACT or SAT tests.

Great tutor

Phillip was a huge help with my daughter’s Multivariate Calculus course. She was having trouble with a problem that used a specific software and he helped her figure it out.

Helpful and experienced

Phillip taught me about fractional integration and went above and beyond when explaining. Definitely worth the money for a session and I will be scheduling again.

Very Knowledgeable!

Phillip did a great job explaining the material my son didn’t understand. Looking forward to working with him consistently to get my son understanding Physics better.

Knowledgeable tutor.

Philip made us feel comfortable, he listened to what my daughter's needs were. He is always early and finished the lesson well, giving extra things for her to work on.

Amazing!

Philip has been able to help my student out of the "red zone" in high school physics. A "B+" on a retake test and a "B" on the most recent test. This last test is the first time all year that my student does not have to do a retake.

Friendly and knowledgeable in the area of Calc.

Great discussion and plan to begin tutoring with our son. Problem worksheets provided to aid in practice. Great to see areas of need identified, we look forward to working more with Philip.

Philip is very patient and very helpful!

He helped me get ready for a test. He gave me confidence and walked through steps with me so I could understand and know why I was doing each step. I appreciate the time that he tutored me. Thank you!

Excellent Teacher

Philip really knows his stuff and has a great teaching style that resulted in a highly efficient and productive tutoring session with my high school aged son. We were in a pinch as we had been struggling all week to understand a certain chapter in algebra 2 and my son had an upcoming test early the next week. I had never used WyzAnt or any tutoring service for that matter but decided to take a long shot that we could actually find someone to help in such a short timeframe. Philip came to the rescue and fit us in to his busy schedule. I was also very impressed that when the hour was up - I had told him that I thought an hour would do it when we scheduled the meeting- and they weren't quite through the chapter; he just kept plowing ahead until they made it through. Thank you Philip!

Excellent Tutor

Phillip did a great job helping my 13 year old daughter who felt she was not skilled in math. His efforts helped her realize she has the ability and will succeed.
