Case Western Reserve University (PhD)
I have been tutoring since 2005 in various subjects such as high school and college math, SAT/ACT test prep, high school and college biology including chemistry and physics.
My education is in Molecular and Cell Biology from University of California Berkeley (UCB). I received a Masters of Science in Applied Anatomy and a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology from Case Western Reserve University.
I love teaching and tutoring.
I believe a good tutor doesn't just know the material but makes their students excited about the material also. I have been tutoring since 2005 in various subjects such as high school and college math, SAT/ACT test prep, high school and college biology including chemistry and physics.

Yanina was patient in helping me to learn how to code in SAS. With her continued tutelage I believe I will make strides in my understanding of how to use this system.
This is the first time I took a chance on searching for a tutor. I am so glad that I did. Yanina N. helped me and she agreed to tutor me. We started a little late but that was okay. Yanina was very approachable and understanding. She did not make me feel like I was dumb. I have made another session with her. I would recommend Yanina to all my friends and family and others.
As far as rating I would rate her EXCELLENT!
Yanina has met several times with my daughter and done a fabulous job of explaining calculus in a way that challenges her yet explains things. The back and forth allowing questions and feedback has been very encouraging. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
My last session with Yanina for this course. She has been exceptional in helping with my assignments. I appreciate her patience and encouragement this semester. She came highly recommended to me and I have recommended her to another student. My inability to comprehend statistics is my reality. Yanina does it so well. Good luck in completing your doctorate studies Yanina!
My first session with Yanina and for me she is a God-send. She was very accommodating to meet with me on short notice and extremely helpful. I felt such a relief from the stress and anxiety of my Stats homework. I look forward to continuing to work with Yanina. Prayerfully with her help I will be successful in passing my course.
My daughter was helped to understand a difficult concept. Being in a 1:1 setting really helped my daughter who does not always want to ask questions in school. We will be making another appointment very soon!
The first time I took statistics I received a C grade which in the Gradate program is a F. I did not have a tutor.
The second time around, Yanina was my tutor and I passed the course with a B. I started getting As and Bs on all of my assignments. We have one more statistics course to take and Yanina really breaks down the material (the formulas) in ways that I can understand.
Thank you Yanina!
She is also very patient.
I have used Yanina on several nursing courses. She knows her stuff and can explain numerous subjects with ease.
My daughter is in Honors Chemistry and doing poorly. She was hesitant about seeing a tutor because she has met with her teacher after school and ended up feeling confused and dumb. After 60 min with Yanina I could see that she did not want the session to end because she was grasping the subject matter. To Yanina's credit my daughter was engaged and excited to learn Chemistry at 7:30 on a Sunday night and ended up having a 90 min session. This is just her first session but I know Yanina knows how to connect with a high schooler!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
