I was working for MN MathCorps as a Math Enrichment Tutor for a year, tutoring middle school tutors who fell below grade level in math in order for them to become proficient in Algebra by the end of eighth grade. I recruited, coordinated, and trained volunteers to provide basic math skills help to students. In undergrad, I majored in Chemistry (graduated in 2013 from Gustavus). During my time in undergrad, I had the opportunity to be a Teacher Assistant for a few chemistry labs junior and senior year of college. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
