Dear parents, guardians and students:
My first experience with WyzAnt was through a tutor who helped my son during a time that I was busy with work and couldn't meet his needs. I was very happy with the tutor. I come as a parent who recognizes that sometimes, we must find outside help for our children; and when we do, we want the very best for them. That is why I am excited to join this team of great tutors and make a positive impact in the lives of students throughout the North Branch area.
As an internationally recognized innovative educator with a demonstrated history of leveraging multiple learning styles to engage and educate, I bring over 20 years of success in elementary education. I have worked with students of all ages in Kenya, England, Netherlands and the USA, specializing in individualized learning styles to maximize student potential. As an educator, I pride myself in having experienced learning in three different continents, resulting in a rich global perspective and well rounded ability to engage each learner regardless of background. After spending over 14 years in higher education, I recognized a need to intervene in the elementary years. While in higher education, I came alongside students who struggled with math, writing and communication. Study skills seemed to also require intervention. It was during that time that I felt drawn to K-12. Even though I had earned my doctorate in education, I chose to go back to graduate school and specialize in K-12 curriculum and instruction. I have completed course work through Concordia University, Portland's Master of Education program.
In addition to my education, I have worked with kids from kindergarten to 5th grade, helping them with homework and breaking down barriers to learning in math, grammar and science. My knowledge and background allows me to engage students in all subjects in elementary years. Outside tutoring, I am also the founder of a private K-12 classical academy and have worked hard in ensuring our teachers are adequately prepared to engage students by targeting individual student learning needs and styles. As I personally work with each student, my goal is to develop not only their ability to solve immediate problems, but to develop a well trained mind.
I look forward to working with your child.
Thank you for considering me for a tutor!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My undergraduate degree is in International Business. I have over seven years of classroom experience teaching business courses at Bethel University. I have worked primarily with undergraduate students, helping them grasp business concepts through practice, simulation, and exercises. Feedback through evaluations has demonstrated my strength in helping students succeed.
I have completed graduate work in education with early childhood specialization, and I have a doctorate in education. In addition I have developed a K-12 school and designed its full curriculum and have over seven years of teaching and tutoring elementary age (5-12 years old) students.
